A sixth-grade student new to the district this year brought a BB gun to school today. He did not use the BB gun, he did not threaten anyone with the BB gun and no one was hurt. The incident was dealt with by Mrs. Vogt in conjunction with School Resource Officer Jones.
The child showed other students the BB gun around 12:45 p.m. and these students reported this to adults. The BB gun was removed from the backpack by Mrs. Vogt and turned over to Officer Jones. Parents were contacted.
Again, no one was threatened or hurt but the presence of a weapon on school grounds is a serious violation of the code of conduct. The district will enforce its code of conduct to protect the health and safety of its students.
