The Superintendent of Schools of Herkimer administers the educational program as directed by the School Board.The administrators serve as part of the district "management team," implementing Board of Education policies and overseeing all aspects of the instructional programs.

The Interim Superintendent has been approved for employment pursuant to Section 211 of Retirement and Social Security Law and 80-5.5 of Commissioner's Regulations from May 15, 2013 through June 30, 2016. Under this provision he has the right to the compensation package as approved and described in the minutes of the Board of Education meeting of March 13, 2013, available on this site; and, has the right to receive a pension while so employed.
