According to the Times Telegram, the team wore “lots of socks” as part of a worldwide awareness campaign. The World Down Syndrome Day website explains that the aim of the “Lots of Socks” campaign is for people to wear something that stands out so others will ask about it, giving the wearer a chance to talk about World Down Syndrome Day.

The team also gathered signatures on a pledge to end the use of derogatory terms to describe people with Down syndrome.
