Kindergarten through sixth grade students have art class once a week. They will learn about a variety of artists from our country as well as countries around the world. Students will be exposed to many different art mediums, creating both two-dimensional and three-dimensional artwork.
Students should have an art smock in school to bring to art class whenever they will be working with mediums that could stain clothing. An old button-up shirt seems to work the best. Supplies such as crayons, markers, and pencils will be provided in class for the students to use.
Our instrumental music program is offered to students in grades 4, 5, and 6. Students are exposed to the variety of instruments in music class and then have an opportunity to choose one to play and take lessons on. Parents have the choice to rent or buy their child’s instruments with some instruments being provided by the school. Instrumental music lessons are given throughout the school day to students in grades 4, 5, and 6.
Students in grades K-6 have vocal music class once a week. Students are exposed to a variety of music history, songs, and an opportunity to enjoy the art of music.
Physical Education (PE)
Students in grades K-6 attend Physical Education classes two times a week. Only a doctor’s note can excuse a student from Physical Education for more than a day. All students are required to wear sneakers and to be appropriately dressed for physical activity.
For safety reasons, students are not allowed to wear any type of jewelry during their participation in class, with the exception of medical emergency bracelets. It is recommended that students do not bring any valuables to PE class.
