High school robotics team advances in competition

Herkimer High School Robotics Team competes in First Lego League tournamentOn Sunday, November 15, Central Valley Academy hosted a qualifying tournament for FIRST Lego League (FLL). FLL is an international organization focused on getting kids involved in science and technology. Seventeen teams between the ages 9 and 14 competed in an all day event with a chance to move on to the next round at SUNY IT.

The competition consisted of four main parts: (1) Lego robotics games, (2) FLL Core Values presentations, (3) Programming design, and (4) Project presentations. Specifics about FLL and this year’s challenge can be found at http://www.firstlegoleague.org/.

Herkimer’s team, named Power of T.E.N. (Totally Epic Nerds) entered the competition with their robot (Exponent) that they’ve been working on since September. The team placed first in the programming design portion and qualified for the next round of competition. Great work Power of T.E.N.!
