Jr. High club members thank lunch aides

At the Thanksgiving table, we give thanks for family, friends, good food and good health. But before the Thanksgiving break, some Herkimer Jr./Sr. High students decided to give thanks for something else.

On Tuesday, members of the junior high Friends of Rachel club presented lunch aides with a giant “Thank You” banner, and bouquets of flowers, to thank the staff for their hard work, which often goes unrecognized.

Club advisor Kerry Reppel said the thank-you was dreamed up by club members, whose mission is to promote kindness and combat bullying and other negative social pressures.

Reppel said the lunch aides were touched by the gesture.

“They said no one had ever done anything like this for them,” Reppel said.
