Heather Joy Bagnall joined the Herkimer Central School District faculty in the fall of 2017 as an elementary music teacher.
How long have you been teaching?
I actually began teaching private music lesson when I was in high school. I have taught in the public and parochial schools for a total of 12 years.
What led you to become a teacher?
I became a teacher when I realized that music is not only the sounds we listen to every day, it is also a key to literacy and building a community.
What do you love most about teaching at Herkimer?
The elementary students are my favorite part of teaching at Herkimer. There is always an air of excitement and new adventures to share.
What’s your favorite memory from when you were in elementary school?
My two favorite memories from elementary school include learning how to read and playing the part of Little Miss Muffet in first grade.
What advice do you have for current Herkimer students?
Stand tall, put your shoulders back, smile, and be kind, because you are important. There are so many people here that believe in you!
