Work will continue during the spring and summer on Herkimer Central School District’s $10.4 million capital project.
Phase II of the project, which includes refinishing the gymnasium floor, new sod on the baseball field and work on the surface of the tennis courts, is scheduled to conclude over the summer. Public access to the tennis courts may be limited for a period in mid-summer when work is underway.
Beginning June 26, work will begin on a conduit in front of Herkimer Jr./Sr. High School. Access to the building will not be affected, but Internet and phone service to the building will be interrupted for about a week. During that time, staff normally working at the high school may not be present in the building. However, the high school office and district office will be open.
Phase III of the capital project has been approved by the board, and will be submitted to the state Education Department in the fall.
Also in the fall, work is planned to replace the filter system at the Herkimer Jr./Sr. High School pool, which will be closed for about two weeks during the duration of the work. More information will be provided as plans are finalized. The pool work is part of a capital outlay project approved as part of the district’s 2017-18 budget.
