State Sen. James Seward, R-Oneonta, plans to visit art classes at Herkimer Jr./Sr. High School on Monday to mark Youth Art Month.
The senator was among local lawmakers who issued proclamations marking the month-long celebration of youth arts. The proclamations were presented to students from Herkimer and other local districts at the opening reception of a Youth Art Month exhibit at Bassett Healthcare in Herkimer.

Seward plans to visit Leah Zorn and Heather McCutcheon’s art classes beginning at 9:30 a.m. Monday. In a media release, the senator said “Art education is one of the many ways our students are able to express themselves and excel. Achievement in art can be linked to success in a number of other subject areas and the creative skills demonstrated are highly valued in business and in life.”
