BB gun confiscated at football game

On Friday, Sept. 23, students reported a BB gun being fired on school grounds during a home football game in East Herkimer. Chaperones notified sheriff’s department officers, who confiscated the BB gun from a student. There were no injuries reported. Staff and law enforcement acted quickly and efficiently to neutralize the hazard.

The school takes the health and safety of our children and everyone on school grounds seriously, and has zero tolerance for the presence or use of any weapon on school grounds. The district strictly enforces its school code of conduct when actions threaten the health and safety of our children and the public at large.

This incident is under further investigation by district officials, and disciplinary charges are pending. Law enforcement will be asked to review the incident for possible criminal charges.
