Elementary students get motivated

Two adults and four children hold up certificates

Be Respectful. Be Mindful. Be Confident.

These are a few of the messages that Herkimer Elementary students will hear throughout the school year as part of an ongoing focus on character education.

Each month, teachers will work with students to define and explore a different character trait. Students will learn about how they can exemplify that trait at school, at home and in their community. At the end of each month, classroom teachers will select students who have exemplified those traits.

September’s theme was “Be Motivated.” On Friday, Mrs. Vogt and Mrs. Paragi visited classrooms throughout the school to acknowledge each student who was chosen, and provide each of them with a certificate and a “brag tag.”

Congratulations to all the September students who showed us they can “Be Motivated”!
