‘Guys and Dolls’ to be spring musical

Auditions will be held Jan. 8 and 9 for the Footlighters’ spring musical, a production of “Guys and Dolls.”

Students in grades 8-12 who are interested in participating can come to auditions, which will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, and from 3 to 5:30 and 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9. More information is available from Mr. Krause.

The musical “Guys and Dolls” debuted on Broadway in 1950 and won a Tony Award for Best Musical. A 1955 film adaptation starred Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra.

The play is based on the short stories of Damon Runyan, with a story set among gangsters and gamblers of New York City in the 1920 and ’30s. Well-known songs from the show by Frank Loesser include “Luck Be a Lady.”
