Jessica Alberts is a School Resource Officer at Herkimer Jr./Sr. High School
I truly enjoy being the SRO in the Herkimer Junior/Senior High School. I have built so many great relationships with the students and staff.
Where did you graduate from and when?
I graduated from Herkimer High School in 2002.
What did you do after graduation?
After high school, I became a security guard while attending Herkimer County Community College for the Criminal Justice Forensic Investigations program where I received an associates degree.
I went on to work for the Herkimer Sheriff’s Department in 2006 as a correctional officer, where I remained until 2017. In 2017, I began my career with the Herkimer Police Department. I have had the opportunity to attend many different trainings. I am currently certified as a hostage crisis negotiator, an advanced child forensic interviewer, a crime scene specialist, a juvenile officer, a school resource officer, and a bike officer with our bike unit. Most recently, I completed training to become a LEAD (Law Enforcement Against Drugs and Violence) instructor. I look forward to bringing the LEAD program to the school in 2022-23 where I will have the opportunity to be teaching this program to students.
Who is your inspiration?
I can’t pick just one! I would have to say both of my grandmothers. They were both strong, independent, caring women who I have learned so much from. I truly enjoy being the SRO in the Herkimer Junior/Senior High School. I have built so many great relationships with the students and staff.
