Herkimer Elementary School parents are invited to an informational meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at the Herkimer Jr./Sr. High School Library Media Center to discuss options to address changing enrollments at the elementary and junior/senior high schools.
As the population at the junior/senior high school decreases, and space constraints at the elementary school limit student options within that building, the Herkimer Central School District Board of Education has been considering ways to better allocate district resources among its students.
At the June 15 meeting, district representatives will discuss the possibility of moving sixth grade to the Jr./Sr. High School beginning in the 2018-19 school year as one way to preserve class sizes at the elementary school.
A short presentation on this proposal will be given at the June 15 meeting, followed by a time for questions from those in attendance.
