School absentee ballots to be mailed for June 9 vote

The Herkimer Central School District is working to notify district residents about the upcoming school budget vote and Board of Education election, which will take place June 9 via absentee ballot.

Like all school districts in New York state, Herkimer CSD is required to conduct its annual school budget vote via absentee ballot this year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in-person voting on the school budget is not permitted, per the governor’s executive order.

This vote is separate from any other local, state and federal elections, and requires a separate ballot. Each ballot will include a postage-paid envelope so that they can be returned by mail at no cost to the voter.

All district residents will receive information in the mail about the vote, and ballots are expected to be mailed out to voters in the coming weeks as well.
