Herkimer eighth-graders are eligible to apply to the VP-Tech program, which offers high school students a pathway to earn college credits while in high school.
Applications are due in March for eighth-graders who want to enroll in the Valley Pathways in Technology (VP-Tech) program at Herkimer BOCES, which begins in students’ ninth-grade year. VP-Tech students attend classes at Herkimer BOCES (and, later, at Herkimer College) to study advanced manufacturing and receive an associate degree after six years of study. The program brings together students from several area school districts, including Herkimer.
The full-day program requires a long-term commitment from students, who must complete an acceptance (including letters of recommendation) and spend a day “shadowing” at VP-Tech before they can be accepted to the program. An open house will be held at Herkimer BOCES on March 13.
For more information about VP-Tech, or to apply, contact the Guidance Office at (315) 866-2230, ext. 1318.
