2 Herkimer students win Young at Art! awards

Two Herkimer Central School District students recently won awards at the Young at Art! Regional Youth Art Contest during a reception at the Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown.

Herkimer senior Lyla Williams won second place in the Senior Painting category and also a special visiting artist grant of $50 to use on whatever artwork she would like.

Herkimer sixth grader Gwendalyn McCutcheon won first place in the Junior Mixed Media category and received an art kit full of supplies.

More than 300 pieces of artwork were submitted to the Young at Art! Regional Youth Art Contest, and 38 were selected for the exhibition. The awards reception took place on June 10.
