Dear Parents/Guardians:

As the school year begins and emergency closings may occur, it is important parents have the necessary information. The primary reason for canceling school will be the safety of students in getting to school either by bus transportation, walking or parents/ guardians.

We will do ·our very best to make the decision to close (or not) by 6 a.m. If we think the weather will improve in the morning, we will have a delay. The emergency phone system, Parent Square, will be programmed to start calling as close to 6 a.m. as possible (if you have any changes to your telephone numbers, please contact your child’s school office). On October 6, at 2:30 pm, we will do an “emergency alert” test call to check contacts. This will be via text, phone call and email.

While we try to avoid dismissing students early, there may be times when we have no choice. Please have an emergency plan in place for an early dismissal and be sure it is communicated with your child’s homeroom teacher and school.

Thank you for your support and understanding. Closing school is never an easy decision, however, your child’s safety will always remain the top priority.

Sincerely,
Kathleen A. Carney
Superintendent of Schools
