To be eligible to run for a seat on the Herkimer Central School Board of Education, candidates must be U.S. citizens who are at least 18 years old, who have lived within the district for at least one straight year before the election, and who can read and write.
Candidates cannot be employees of Herkimer Central School District, hold another public office such as superintendent, clerk, tax collector or librarian, or share a household with a current board member. Board candidates also cannot have been removed from any school district office within the year before the date of appointment or election to the board.
For the 2020 vote, candidates do not need to obtain signatures, but must meet all of the other requirements to run for the board. Anyone who is interested in having their name on the ballot for a Board of Election seat is asked to email District Clerk Sherry Farrington at email@example.com by end of day May 11.
