Each year, qualified voters across New York state head to the polls to vote on their school district’s budget proposal and board candidates.
In order to vote in school elections, a person must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, and a resident of the Herkimer Central School District for at least 30 days prior to the scheduled vote date.
Residents who are not be able to participate in a school election in person may vote by absentee ballot. Due to an executive order, all voting will be by absentee ballot for the 2020 budget and board vote. Ballots will be mailed to qualified voters. Ballots are to be returned by mail using the postage paid envelope provided. All absentee ballots must be returned to the district office by 5 p.m. on the vote date.
