Getting started
Capital Project 2024 is now underway! The project, approved by district residents on Jan. 16, 2024, received New York State Education Department approval this past summer.
Bids were received and awarded by the Board of Education in fall 2025, and site preparation and construction work began in December 2025. The following contractors are involved in the project:
- General construction – Murnane Building Contractors Inc.
- Site construction – Central Paving Inc.
- Bridge construction – Tioga Construction Inc.
- Plumbing & HVAC construction – H.J. Brandeles Corp.
- Electrical construction – Mid-State Electrical Contracting
- Other contracts were awarded to Day Automation for building automation and Security, GAMETIME for playground equipment, Toth’s Sports for interior and exterior scoreboards and Musco Sports Lighting LLC for athletic field lighting.
King & King Architects LLP is providing design services for the project, and C&S Cos. are providing construction management services.
Middle-High School Auditorium
One major step taken in recent weeks has been the dismantling of the current auditorium. The auditorium is temporarily out of use, but events typically held there will still take place elsewhere – such as this year’s musical being moved to Herkimer College. Auditorium renovations are expected to take about one full year.
The auditorium will be fully refurbished – including new seats, new house lighting, a new sound system, a refinished stage and improved storage backstage. Recent improvements that were completed in previous projects such as new stage lighting, updated stage rigging and new curtains will be used in the renovated space.

Middle-High School Gym storage addition
Another exciting update is that excavation and the insertion of formed footings are completed for a gym storage addition at the back of the Middle-High School Gymnasium. The added storage will allow the district to re-open the back hallway that is currently used for gym storage.

Future Updates
This story just touches on a few areas of this comprehensive project that includes improvements at the Elementary School, the Middle-High School, Harmon Field, the Gros Boulevard athletic complex and the bus garage. Future updates will highlight other improvement areas.
