English 7 project focused on the ‘magic of women’s history’ by creating newspapers

What a great project this was!

Back in March, Mrs. Bailey’s English 7 students began researching famous women from history to celebrate Women’s History Month and then created newspapers about the women using Google Slides for their final projects.

Students were given a “Herkimer Middle School twist” by being asked to include in their research how this famous woman “located her magic” and how her “magic” benefited the world.

The project was conducted in collaboration with library media specialist Brianne Bello and licensed teaching assistant/library staff member Ashley Sommer.

The newspapers were printed by topic and scattered throughout the Jr./Sr. High School Library Media Center as the English 7 classes returned to the library to enjoy samples of this “historical magic.” Bello and Sommer organized 24 sampling stations and added an additional library source on that topic at each station including books, eBooks, educational videos and more.

Pictured below are seventh grade class officers enjoying the “magic of women’s history” – President Sierra DiBrango, Treasurer Alivia Prosser and Co-Secretaries Alya Cassella and Deakon Elthorp.
