The Herkimer Central School District High School Student Council, civics class, National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society are once again hard at work on their annual Holiday Project.
What started seven years ago as a small way to bring some holiday cheer to Herkimer students has blossomed into a project that served about 175 students last year. Students are “nominated” by peers or staff to receive a wrapped package filled with fun and useful items.
“Community support is a big reason for our success,” National Honor Society adviser Caroline Lampert said. “Our club members and their families, staff and local businesses have been very generous in the past, and we’d love to have their support once more.”
The clubs are looking to collect cash donations, tissue paper to line boxes, snacks – multi-packs of chips, crackers, cookies, drinks – Capri Suns, Gatorade, hot cocoa packets, easy meals – mac & cheese, ramen, hygiene items – gender specific or gender neutral, fun stuff – playing cards, stress balls, candy, winter accessories – gloves, hats, socks.
If you have any questions, you can direct them to Student Council advisers Laura Scalise and Brooke Jones, National Honor Society and civics adviser Caroline Lampert or Junior Honor Society adviser Susan Hayes-Manning.
“Thank you in advance,” Lampert said. “We can’t do it without your help.”
