Middle school presents Lion King Jr. on Jan. 22-23

Students work on costumes for the Lion King Jr.
During winter break, students worked on costumes and sets for the Lion King Jr. production.

About 35 Herkimer middle school students will take to the stage to present the Lion King Jr., at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, in the high school auditorium.

The one-act show features the popular songs from the Disney production. About 35 students have on-state roles, while others are working in production.

“Everyone involved in this production is really looking forward to bringing musical theater back to Herkimer after a COVID hiatus” said director Jillian LaLonde.

“The kids are working so hard to transform themselves into animals and show off their talents. If you love Disney, you will find yourselves dancing and singing along to this popular, energetic show.

Tickets are free for students and $5 for people ages 3 and older.
