A simultaneous “swatting call” was made to the 911 center this morning.
An unknown caller falsely reported that an incident occurred at Herkimer Jr./Sr. High School.
Herkimer Police immediately notified the SRO and sent officers to both schools.
A “hold in place” was called, and Herkimer police cleared the building, under the chief’s direction.
At no time was there a credible threat of immediate violence within the school. Other schools in Oneida and Madison counties received the same call.
Precautionary measures are in place to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
