The Art Student of the Month for January 2026 is Victoria Donets. Victoria is currently in ninth grade and is taking studio in art class with Mrs. Zorn. She was chosen as Student of the Month because of her strong work ethic and her willingness to challenge herself in the classroom. Since September, Victoria has exhibited growth in her creativeness and art-making skills. She inspires her classmates by coming up with interesting artwork ideas, and she always uses her class time diligently. Below is an interview with Victoria.

Q. How does it feel to be Art Student of the Month?

A. It was very unexpected, but at the same time, I feel honored.

Q. What are your favorite art-making materials to work with, or subjects you like to portray?

A. My favorite art-making materials to work with are colored pencils and scratchboard drawing tools.

Q. Do you have any artworks that you are particularly proud of?

A. One artwork I am most proud of is my scratchboard drawing of a bird because I enjoyed working on it.

Q. Where do you find inspiration from when you are creating your own artwork?

A. I often find inspiration from my surroundings.

Q. What are your plans after high school?

A. After high school, I plan on pursuing college, but I’m still exploring my major options.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers about the art-making process?

A. My advice is to try your best and always stay focused.
