District says “Thank you” to teachers

Tacos, coffee, cookies and “shout outs” are just a few of the ways the Herkimer Central School District said thank-you to teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week.

On Tuesday, Herkimer Jr./Sr. High School faculty were treated to “Taco Tuesday,” with tacos, queso and all the fixings. On Friday, the Sunshine Club at the high school served coffee and quiche to teachers.

On Wednesday, Herkimer Elementary faculty were greeted at their desks with individually wrapped cookies and inspirational quotes, and were served a catered lunch courtesy of the Parent-Teacher Association. A bulletin board in the main hallway was covered in Post-it note “shout outs” thanking individual teachers.

We asked a few students what they would say if they had the chance to thank a teacher. Here’s what they told us:
