Matt Powers graduated from Herkimer High School in 2001.

What’s your favorite high school memory?

Performing in the musicals Anything Goes, Guys and Dolls, and The Pajama Game. Too many good times to count.

What have you been doing since you graduated?

Teaching at Herkimer County Community College, raising a family, building community, volunteering, creating local community theater, podcasting, and opening a business.

Did anyone from Herkimer Central School District influence you in becoming who you are today?

Mr. Krause. Not only did he teach me to sing, he improved my confidence, and showed me what being an amazing teacher is. I am forever thankful for him.

What advice do you have for current Herkimer High School students?

Read and travel. Read as much as you can in an array of subjects. See the world. Inform yourself and expand your horizons. The world is an amazing place full of beautiful people. Reading and traveling will cultivate a deep appreciation of how truly wondrous the world is.
