The Art Student of the Month for June is Giavanna Waterman! Gia is in seventh grade and was chosen as Student of the Month by Mrs. Zorn because of her creativity and craftsmanship in the classroom. Not only does Gia work diligently during class time, but she also spends her free time honing her artistic skills. Below is an interview with Gia.

Q. How does it feel to be Art Student of the Month?
A. It feels great to be chosen as Art Student of the Month! It was a goal I’ve had since sixth grade, I’m so glad I’ve achieved it!

Q. What are your favorite art-making materials to work with?
A. I like using pencils, tortillons and even working with digital art.

Q. Do you have any artworks that you are particularly proud of, and why are you proud of them?
A. Yes, I’m proud of a few of my artworks, but I’m extremely proud of my symmetrical butterfly drawing because of the incredible shading.

Q. Do you plan on taking more art classes when you are in high school?
A. Yes, I’d love to take art classes that focus on realistic shading and drawing.

Q. Do you have any advice for your classmates about the art-making process?
A. My advice is be you! Let your art express who you are!
