Herkimer 9th graders participate in ‘book-tasting’

Before selecting a book for their independent reading assignments, Herkimer Central School District freshmen had the opportunity to sample the books during a “book-tasting” event in the Herkimer Jr./Sr. High School Library Media Center.

Students in teacher Matthew Watkins’ ninth grade English classes participated in the “book-tasting” event on Friday, Oct. 6, with Herkimer Jr./Sr. High School library media specialist Brianne Bello.

The freshman were able to take a look at books from eight different genres in order to get ideas for the independent reading assignments, Bello said.

“Students kept track of books they would be interested in reading throughout the tasting and then will have the option to check out one of these titles,” Bello said.
