Herkimer seniors celebrate National College Decision Day

The Herkimer Central School District Class of 2025 celebrated National College Decision Day last week – a day when many high school seniors across the country officially commit to the colleges or post-secondary paths of their choice.

Many Herkimer seniors wore shirts representing their college, military or career choices to honor the occasion.

“We recognize that every student’s journey is unique,” high school counselor Carolyn Saugh said. “While some seniors are college-bound, others may be entering the workforce, pursuing a trade or enlisting in the military. No matter the path, we are incredibly proud of each and every student and the decisions they’ve made for their futures.”

National College Decision Day took place on Thursday, May 1, and Herkimer Central School District held its event on Friday, May 2.

Herkimer Middle-High School staff were also invited to wear apparel from their alma maters to highlight their own educational journeys and inspire conversations with students about the many opportunities ahead, Saugh said.

“May and June are filled with meaningful milestones, and today’s event was a perfect way to kick off our senior year celebrations,” Saugh said. “Congratulations, Class of 2025. Your future is bright, and we are honored to celebrate this exciting next chapter with you.”
