Herkimer Jr./Sr. High School will present the musical “Matilda” at 7:30 p.m. on March 31, and April 1-2, in the auditorium.
Directed by Jillian LaLonde, the musical features more than 40 students, original songs by Tim Minchin, and high energy dance numbers.
Matilda musical is based on a children’s novel from 1988 and centers on a 5-year-old girl who has astonishing wit, intelligence, special powers, and an extraordinary imagination.
“I have loved ‘Matilda’ since I watched the movie for the first time as a little girl. If you have seen the movie, the storyline is very similar,” LaLonde said.
“It shows that good trumps evil, you just have to work to make that happen sometimes.”
On a global level, Matilda has won 47 international awards and played to audiences of all ages around the world.
Tickets are $10 for the musical.
