Two Herkimer students were recently chosen as among the best musicians in New York state.
Every year, NYSSMA creates honor performing choirs and bands selected from the highest NYSSMA solo scores from the previous May’s NYSSMA solo competition.
Based on their high NYSSMA solo achievements and musical skills, seniors Zachary Williams and Aaron Baldwin were selected to join the select groups that performed at the NYSSMA Winter Conference in Rochester on Dec. 5-8.
Zachary Williams performed in the Tenor II section of the Conference All State Mixed Chorus under conductor Dr. Jerry Blackstone from Michigan State.
Aaron Baldwin performed on trombone in the Conference All State Concert Band under conducter Dr. Jay Gephart from Purdue University.
The performances were held at the Eastman Theater in Rochester.
