Q. How does it feel to be Art Student of the Month?
A. Sixth grade me is jumping for joy!
–
Q. What are your favorite art-making materials to work with, or subjects you like to portray?
A. I enjoy using pencils and charcoal, mainly because they’re easy to blend and they can capture lights and darks. I like to draw anything that interests me.
–
Q. Do you have any artworks that you are particularly proud of?
A. I am very proud of my watercolor painting of an apple that I made in Mrs. McCutcheon’s class last year. The colors were easy to work with, and the piece turned out great!
–
Q. Where do you find inspiration from when you are creating your own artwork?
A. I find inspiration from my environment and whatever catches my eye in the moment (music, movies, nature, etc.).
–
Q. What are your plans after high school? Do you plan on continuing to create art in the future?
A. Currently, I plan to go into marketing. However, I’m going to Project Lead the Way, and if that goes well, I might decide to become an architect.
–
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers about the art-making process?
A. My advice is, don’t give up! When you make a mistake, or when you look at a piece too long and it just looks like vague shapes to you, get an outsider’s perspective. Remember, art is subjective. Your style is your style – embrace it!
