Below is a Q&A with Arthur Dadello:
–
Q. What first sparked your interest in helping your community?
A. I’ve always believed that strong communities are built when people look out for one another. That belief sparked my interest in getting involved and finding ways to give back where I live.
–
Q. What are one or two community efforts you’ve participated in that stand out to you?
A. Participating in school musicals are a huge part of giving back to the community. Each year, many people in the community look forward to a great performance and enjoyment from watching it. I love seeing everyone happy and receiving a sense of enjoyment. Helping out at school events, sporting events is another way I give back to the community to help them with seeing the brighter part of the world in different ways.
–
Q. What does being named Student of the Month represent to you personally?
A. Being named Student of the Month is a major honor to receive because it represents that I have made a difference to my community to be recognized. It is a great feeling to have an impact on the people around me and in my community, and being named Student of the Month shows me personally that I have succeeded in my community.
–
Q. Which experience in your community work has meant the most to you, and why?
A. Attending school events, sporting events mean the most to me because people count on me and other people who volunteer for help or if they need or want something, I am always glad to be there and provide excellent service to everyone.
–
Q. In what ways has giving back influenced your growth as a student or individual?
A. Giving back to the community has influenced me and my growth as a student and an individual. As a student, it has grown on me that I can do so many different things in my school to provide for others in the school community. For me as an individual, serving my community has shown me how I can grow my personality to be more encouraging, providing for those in need and just show that I have an impact on others’ lives.
–
Q. What would you say to students who want to get involved but aren’t sure where to start?
A. Start small and start where you already are. You don’t need a big title or a perfect plan to make a difference. Look around your school or neighborhood and notice what people actually need help tutoring, organizing events, helping a club, supporting a cause you care about. That’s usually the best entry point.
–
Q. Is there anyone you’d like to recognize for encouraging or supporting your involvement?
A. I would like to thank my teachers and parents for supporting me with my involvement and helping me provide for people in the community.
