Third Grade Teacher

Q. What date did you start in the new role?

A. September 2025.

Q. What is your background experience that led to this position?

A. I have always worked in a field that had something to do with childcare and/or teaching. I started out at an after-school program, which then led to me being a teacher’s assistant in a universal preschool program. I had to go back to school full time after my college closed down and I had to transfer. Then I got placed at Herkimer for my student teaching placement a,nd that led me to getting a job here.

Q. What makes you excited about working in your new role at Herkimer CSD?

A. I am excited to work with the third grade team. After being with them for my student teaching placement, they were all very welcoming and made me feel right at home.

Q. When did you first know you wanted to be a teacher and what made you feel that way?

A. I was in elementary school when I first knew I wanted to be a teacher. I grew up around the school setting, seeing my grandma teach, as well as my mom.

Q. What do you think makes Herkimer CSD special?

A. What makes Herkimer CSD so special is that I can say that I did this on my own. Before being here, people thought that I was handed things because of my family. Now, I can say that I did this fully on my own, and that makes it special to me.
