Eighth Grade Social Studies Teacher

Q. What date did you start in the new role?

A. Sept. 4, 2025.

Q. What is your background experience that led to this position?

A. After high school, I attended SUNY Plattsburgh, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in adolescent education and my Master of Science in teaching. After nearly a full school year of long-term substitute teaching in various content areas, I found a wonderful social studies position close to home for me!

Q. What makes you excited about working in your new role at Herkimer CSD?

A. Herkimer is a familiar place to me and is full of history. I grew up loving the local history that was embedded in Herkimer’s roots. And now I get to share that same passion with the next generation.

Q. When did you first know you wanted become a teacher and what made you feel that way?

A. I knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was a sophomore in high school. I was always interested in history and felt a sense of fulfillment helping others. Teaching was a career where I could combine both of those interests into a lifelong goal to help others succeed, chase their passions and learn a bit of history along the way.

Q. What do you think makes Herkimer CSD special?

A. From the moment I stepped into this building, I felt welcomed. The administration was quick to show me around and make me feel at home. It is clear that there is a community here that truly cares about the faculty, staff and students in this school.
