Over the summer and into the start of the 2023-24 school year, Herkimer Central School District is focusing the Spotlight feature on Herkimer CSD administrators who either recently joined the district or moved to a new administrative role. Today, the Spotlight is on Nicole Crandall, who joins the school as the Jr./Sr. High School assistant principal.

Q. What date did you start in the new role?

A. Aug. 1, 2023.

 

Q. What is your background experience that led to this position?

A. Over the last 12 years as an educator, I have spent most of my time as a classroom teacher. The first part of my career was spent as a special education teacher, and the past seven years, I have been teaching math.

 

Q. What makes you excited about working in your new role at Herkimer CSD?

A. I’m beyond excited to return home to the district I graduated from! I look forward to working with such a great team of faculty and staff. I can’t wait to meet the students and become part of this learning community.

 

Q. When did you know you wanted to work in the education field and what made you feel that way?

A.  When I was young, I always wanted to be a teacher like my mom and aunt. After graduating with a degree in economics, I decided I needed to find a career that would bring me joy, and I started my graduate work in education.

 

Q. What do you think makes Herkimer CSD special?

A. The community and the students. Great things come from Herkimer!
