October 2025 Senior Student of the Month

The Student Council decides monthly student and teacher awards with a specific category each month. The category for September 2025 was “fall athlete” for students and “encouraging to all students” for teachers.

The Senior Student of the Month awards go to two seniors per month who are nominated and voted on by Student Council members in grades 9-11.

The High School Teacher of the Month award goes to one teacher per month who is nominated and voted on by Student Council members in grades 9-12. All Teachers of the Month become eligible to become Teacher of the Year in June.

The October 2025 Senior Students of the Month are Ross Richard and Halonna White, and the October 2025 High School Teacher of the Month is Tekitha Posey.

Below is a Q&A with Ross Richard:

Q. How does it feel to be honored as Student of the Month for your accomplishments as a fall athlete?

A. I am thankful and appreciative to represent Student of the Month as a fall athlete during my senior football season.

Q. What drives you to perform your best both in athletics and in your schoolwork?

A. I am driven to do my best in both academics and athletics to achieve goals to enable me to succeed both on and off the field in order to obtain goals I have set for myself once I graduate high school.

Q. Can you describe a highlight from this season that stands out as a proud or meaningful moment?

A. A highlight moment that stands out to me from this season is when we beat Mount Markham and the team got all hyped up from the win.

Q. How do you manage to juggle the responsibilities of your sport and your academic goals?

A. I am able to manage my academic and athletics responsibilities by trying my best to stay on top of my schoolwork. Time management is essential, as I am also enrolled at HCCC.

Q. Who has played a key role in motivating or supporting you throughout your athletic journey?

A. My parents and family have played a key role in supporting my athletic journey. From being on the sidelines through Pop Warner to cheering me on through my varsity level sports, my family has always shown up to cheer me on and encourage me to always put forth my best effort.

Q. What advice would you share with younger athletes hoping to earn this type of recognition one day?

A. I would advise younger athletes to stay on top of their school work, ask for help when you need it and always remain coachable. Your hard work and dedication will eventually pay off.

Q. What are your future goals in sports, and how do you think athletics will influence your path after high school?

A. At this time, I am undecided about participating in collegiate sports, however, if the opportunity should arise, I would be open to the possibility of participating in football or wrestling. I am not actively seeking schools based on athletics but the academic programs that they offer.
