Herkimer Central School District students on the Herkimer Drug Quiz team recently won second place during the Herkimer County Drug Quiz Show sponsored by the Herkimer County Prevention Council.
Students from seven Herkimer County middle schools competed in the Drug Quiz Show -through four games each in a gameshow format – on March 14 at Herkimer College.
Herkimer Drug Quiz team members from seventh and eighth grade include Amina Zumba, Leah Bray, Brett Saunders, Gwen McCutcheon, Mitchell Meszler, Leah Yudchits and Scott Parmon, with peer mentor Savannah Manno.
The Drug Quiz Show strives to heighten school, home and community substance abuse awareness by providing middle school students with the opportunity to have fun while gaining the knowledge, skills and self-confidence needed to make safe and healthy, real-life choices regarding the use of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs, according to the Herkimer County Prevention Council.
