Sixth-grade orientation to be Aug. 31

Herkimer Jr./Sr. High School will welcome rising sixth-graders for orientation on Monday, Aug. 31. To help ensure social distancing, the sixth grade has been broken into two groups for this orientation, with one group attending from 8:30 to 10 a.m., and another group attending from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Parents have been notified by phone of their child’s time slot for orientation. If you are the parent/guardian of a rising sixth grader, and you did not receive a phone call, please contact the Jr./Sr. High School at (315) 866-2230.

Buses will pick students up at 8 and 10:20 a.m. from the public library, Myers Park, the former Kmart parking lot, the VFW, and the corner of Jeffrey and Walnut streets.

Parents may also drop students off in the first circle at 8:15 or 10:30 a.m., and pick them up in the same location at 10 a.m. or 12:15 p.m., depending on which session the student is attending.

In accordance with the district’s COVID-19 directive, all students will be expected to wear masks when entering the school building and to keep masks on unless or until directed to remove them. Students should not bring any personal belongings with them besides their mask.
