Below is a Q&A with Brady Saunders:

Sport: Baseball

Coach: Zach Steele

Q. What are your favorite subjects in school, and why?

A. Social studies. I like to learn about history, especially American history.

Q. How do you balance schoolwork and athletics?

A. I’ve always been taught to put academics in front of everything. We are student-athletes, and our number one priority is to take care of our business in the classroom.

Q. What position(s) do you play and how long have you played your spring sport?

A. My main position is shortstop, but I have played basically every position in the infield. I have been playing baseball since I was 4 years old.

Q. What has been your proudest moment as a student-athlete?

A. Making sectionals the last two years and winning a sectional game my sophomore year.

Q. What do you think makes a good teammate?

A. Someone that is encouraging and has a positive attitude even when things aren’t going the way you want them to go.

Q. What is one lesson your coach or sport has taught you that you’ll carry with you?

A. Focus on what you can control in the present moment. If you screw up on the field, don’t let that carry into your next at-bat.

Q. What are your post-graduation plans (college, trade school, military, workforce, etc.)?

A. After graduation, I plan to attend Herkimer College to major in physical education.

Q. Who inspires you, and why?

A. My coaches and teammates inspire me to show up every day and keep working hard. Being a part of a group of guys that truly wants to succeed and do great things is something that I am very proud of.

Q. What advice would you give to younger student-athletes?

A. Just keep working hard at whatever you want to become good at and never be satisfied. Always find room for improvement.

Q. If you could describe your high school experience in three words, what would they be?

A. Fun, challenging, successful.
