State Sen. Mark Walczyk visited Herkimer Middle-High School on Friday, April 24, to present Herkimer Central School District with a Youth Art Month proclamation, and he was treated to an arts and music showcase.
Walczyk presented the proclamation to Herkimer art teachers and students while visiting art teacher Heather McCutcheon’s classroom. The proclamation recognized Youth Art Month in Herkimer County, the importance of the arts in schools and the support for the arts in the school community.
During the visit, Walczyk also listened to a performance by the Jazz Band, talked with art students about their artwork, heard a performance by the Show Choir and responded to questions from civics students.
