Update on school meals for 2022-23

Herkimer Central School District wants to make sure families know that federal waivers that allowed schools to provide free meals to all students since earlier in the COVID-19 pandemic have expired. That means school meal operations will return to normal this school year. Unless your family has applied and qualified for free and reduced-price meals, the cost of lunch is $2.75, and breakfast is $1.50.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to submit an application for free and reduced-price school meals by clicking here to download a fillable form.

The form can be filled out and then printed or printed and then filled out by hand. Read the instructions on the second page of the document, complete only one form for your household and sign your name. The form can be returned to your school building office or the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES School Food Service Office c/o Perry Jr. HS, 9499 Weston Rd. New Hartford, NY 13413. For assistance with the form, call 315-738-0848.

We are also in the process of setting up a new point-of-sale system for school meals called EZSchoolPay, but it is not up and running yet. We will provide more information when it is available.

Until then, no students will be denied a meal regardless of their account balance. Parents and guardians can also send in checks or cash in a labeled envelope anytime this school year.
