Q. What date did you start in the new role?
A. August 2026.

Q. What is your background experience that led to this position?
A. I recently graduated from SUNY Oneonta with my bachelor’s degree in Childhood Education 1-6. I have been a substitute teacher in Rome, N.Y., for the last year and a half. Last school year, I was able to student-teach in the Rome City School District in a fourth grade and second grade classroom. I spent some time student-teaching in the Utica City School District in a second grade classroom as well.

Q. What makes you excited about working in your new role at Herkimer CSD?
A. I am excited to spread my love for learning onto my students, while creating a safe and positive environment for everyone! From the moment I have stepped foot into Herkimer CSD, I have felt welcomed and loved by my entire elementary team and am so ready to continue my journey within this district.

Q. When did you first know you wanted to become a teacher and what made you feel that way?
A. My passion for education began when I was in high school, where I chose to do the BOCES program for Early Childhood Education and also participated in an after-school program called CEAL for three out of the four years that I was there. I always looked up to the amazing teachers I had growing up who always pushed me to do my best. They inspired me to become what I am today!

Q. What do you think makes Herkimer CSD special?
A. Herkimer CSD is special to me because it has such a strong community and is a district that chooses to put its efforts toward bringing the community together!
