Q. What date did you start in the new role?
A. July 2026.

Q. What is your background experience that led to this position?
A. I started working in a first-grade classroom during my senior year of high school, and that experience is when I realized that teaching was the career I wanted to pursue. I then attended SUNY Oneonta, where I completed my student teaching and observations in local schools. After graduating, I chose to apply to the Herkimer Central School District because I wanted to begin my teaching career there. I am now continuing my education through a master’s program in educational technology.

Q. What makes you excited about working in your new role at Herkimer CSD?
A. I’m excited to be working at Herkimer CSD because I’m looking forward to getting to know my students and being part of the school community. I’m excited to grow as a teacher, learn from the people around me and create a classroom where my students feel comfortable and enjoy coming to school. I’m also excited to continue building my career in a district that I’m proud to be a part of.

Q. When did you first know you wanted to become a teacher and what made you feel that way?
A. I first realized I wanted to become a teacher during my senior year of high school when I started working in a first-grade classroom. I really enjoyed being around the students, helping them learn and seeing their excitement when they understood something new.

Q. What do you think makes Herkimer CSD special?
A. I think what makes Herkimer CSD special is the strong sense of community and the pride everyone has in being a Magician. It’s a place where students and staff come together to support each other, and I’m proud to be part of that community.
