Q. What date did you start in the new role?

A. Sept. 1, 2026.

Q. What is your background experience that led to this position?

A. I studied Spanish and adolescence education at SUNY Oneonta and finished my master´s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at SUNY Cortland. I have traveled to many Spanish-speaking countries including Peru, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Spain. Also, I studied abroad in Seville, Spain. Additionally, my wife is from Peru, and we are always speaking Spanish at home. I am consistently learning new words in Spanish every day, and I also love to learn other languages. I have studied Spanish, French, Mandarin Chinese and English.

Q. What makes you excited about working in your new role at Herkimer CSD?

A. I am excited to inspire students, be a positive role model, make connections with students, encourage them to be good global citizens, lead them to succeed and teach about culture and the Spanish language.

Q. When did you first know you wanted to become a Spanish teacher and what made you feel that way?

A. My favorite class when I was in school was always Spanish. My secret talent was always my strong accent in the Spanish language. My best class was also always Spanish, and I knew that I wanted to be a Spanish teacher when I was in eighth grade.

Q. What do you think makes Herkimer CSD special?

A. I think the teachers, students and staff make Herkimer CSD feel special. I feel a strong sense of community and support here, and that makes me happy.
